Other Characters: Roxas (Kingdom Hearts) and Sabo (One Piece)
Character Name: Till
Canon: Alien Stage
Canon History: tw for abuse, both physical and implied sexual
Canon Personality: The theme with Till is big emotions. He feels things strongly, gets overwhelmed by that, wears his heart on his sleeve, and isn't the most rational in his decision-making. Where many would learn not to behave certain ways to avoid certain consequences, Till spent his entire life getting beat to shit and still starting fights with the people who can and will repeatedly make his life hell in response. But outside of his volatility, Till is also just a huge lover. He crushes easily, he expresses his feelings through art and music, he wants to protect the people that matter most to him. He has an innately good moral compass, but he isn't thinking about those implications on a broader scale in canon most of the time; the world he has is forced to be small, so his thinking is very insular in his canon, but he fights tooth and nail for who he loves to be safe and happy. He doesn't take the time to slow down and understand his feelings, but he'll follow them blindly into bliss or danger to the very end.
AU Name: Archibald Killian "Till" McRae
AU Age: 23
AU Birthday: June 21
AU History:
Killian (he pretends his first name does not exist) grew up in a volatile home with a mother that loved him but was cowed in fear of her husband. He suffered at the hands of his father, constantly fighting back, until the murder of his mother when he was 12, at which point his father was charged and imprisoned, and Killian was taken and floated through the foster system for most of his teenage years. He spent a lot of time making life harder for himself, getting caught up in volatile friendships, petty theft, and gaining an affinity for graffiti art before getting a job and emancipating himself at 17. He worked in an instrument sale and repair shop under the tutelage of the owner at that time, who allowed him to crash in the apartment above the shop. This is where he first started playing the guitar, and he took to it like a fish in water. He learned music feverishly at that point, started composing by 18, and while his attitude still constantly gets him trouble, he's much better off than he was as a kid.
Killian has spent five years trying to get an independent music career off the ground. He's gone through a few different bands, and is still trying to get one together today, but even when he doesn't have a group, he's performing solo. In his efforts to grow and network with other independent artists, Killian has experienced some... interesting things. The first time he saw his mother's ghost, he was not exactly sober. Assuming it was a bad trip, he put it behind him until the second time he saw her, stone sober in the middle of the day, standing in the window of the instrument shop while he was working. He was 20 at the time, and only when he ran desperately outside to see no one on the street did he realize that he was seeing something that simply wasn't truly there. Or was it?
He saw glimpses of her a few more times, resulting in an emotional meltdown over the loss of her and the lack of tenderness he's gotten to experience since her death. In this, he sparked memories and glimpses of another past, and another life. What he remembers of the other five kids is scattered at best. Most of what he knows is their names and faces, and the feelings he has associated with them. But he knows the conditions he lived in, and how desperate the world was for humans in slavery. He's let that fuel him and his music in Kaisou, continuing to prioritize the punk movement in his work, both as a graffiti artist and music artist. His art has started to reflect some visuals of his past life, but otherwise, he hasn't opened up to anyone about what he's been experiencing. The only other change he's made is that he's gone exclusively by his stage name for the last two years: "Till."
AU Personality Differences: Till's sense of justice has seriously gotten to grow. Music is a way to connect to the world, and the world he has now is way more connected and free than the one he had in canon. With the openness he's grown up with access to, and the opportunities for new experiences, Till is less easily overwhelmed as well, although new things will still get him flustered pretty fast.
